THEATRE – 12 Angry Men – HST – 5K

This simply is perhaps the best theatre you will see all year – it certainly has been for this reviewer – with an experienced and talented cast at the top of their games. 5K

THEATRE – The Effect – UATG – Little Theatre – 4K

While The Effect is by no means a text book on how medical trials are actually conducted, the impacts on the participants and their various and very separate motivations keep the emotions of the audience engaged. 4K

THEATRE – OZ ASIA – Skin – Maj Gallery – 4.5K

Brave, (no doubt mighty expensive to stage), but highly rewarding, Skin embraces what it means to reach the boundary of our existence. Surely, the highlight of this year’s OzAsia. 4.5K

THEATRE – OZ ASIA – God Bless Baseball – Space Theatre – 3.5K

God Bless Baseball is an engaging opportunity to be immersed in the twin and overlapping worlds of East Asia countries and the game itself. 3.5K

THEATRE – OZ ASIA – The Record – Space Theatre – 3K

Interesting, worth the trip from home, but not sure I would want to pay to see it again. 3K

THEATRE – A Steady Rain – Lost in Translation – HST – 4K

For intense theatre, the aptly named A Steady Rain delivers a punch and if one missed it in March, do not again now. 4K

THEATRE – Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense – Her Majesty’s – 4K

The acting and stage craft is, as one would expect of seasoned British performers, brilliant. 4K

THEATRE – The 39 Steps – Playhouse – 4.5K

This is comic theatre at its best. 4.5K

THEATRE – Titus Andronicus – Red Phoenix Theatre – HST – 3.5K

If slaughter is your thing, get off your couches shaped by hours before Game of Thrones and take in how it used to be done, live on stage. 3.5K

GUITAR FESTIVAL – Lord Byron’s Don Juan – Tama Matheson and Karin Schaupp – 4.5K

Matheson’s Lord Byron’s Don Juan is a gem, a quinella of consummate writing and delivery, a gripping tale of a free spirit accompanied by rhythms of love, passion and struggle. 4.5K
