RAW: Circus Trick Tease @ The Ringbox (GoUD)

A hilariously entertaining hour by a crew of three acrobats as they clown around on stage with some impressive tricks, a lot of teasing, a bit of a jive, some clumsiness, some jealousy, some rivalry, a lot of flirting and not just one tantrum. Meet a sensitive new age strongman and Miss Tinkle who are constantly at each other trying to steal the limelight and a clown who’s show is overshadowed, literally, by backstage shenanigans. The audience appreciated the energy of this unique circus’s crew and the acrobatics performed with skill and strength and plenty of humor.

RAW: Denim @ The Birdcage

Denim is one of those beautifully awkward performances for those unintiated to dance. Why awkward? Because you want to clap, cheer and gasp in awe, but you can’t do so without ruining the mood and flow of this well crafted acrobatic\dance piece. Sit back and just enjoy the human body performing some powerful feats. Then make sure you cheer and clap like nuts at the end. Well done to all involved.

RAW: Francesca Martinez

More social commentator than comedian, Martinez performs at the humble art space: Tuxedo Cat – Attic.

Amusing as her commentary about being ‘wobbly’ (she has cerebral palsy) and her life to date is, the show only manages a couple of giggles. She engages the audience well enough, as her material somewhat universal. However, she seems overly reliant on her ‘condition’ to see the show through.

The show feels more like you’re sitting with Martinez at a cafe, having a coffee and chatting about her life. Her stories often take a tangent, but she always returns to the main thread of conversation.

On until 7th March, I would have expected more laughs from this star, who has starred in Ricky Gervais’ Extras and appeared at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

RAW: Justin Hamilton – Idiot Man Child

It’s hard to hate people, even harder to hate Justin!

Witty fella Justin returns to Adelaide, to his roots even, stand up comedy. Absent for the past few Fringes, Justin (or Hammo) is back with an all-new show, premiering in his own hometown.

His on-stage charisma oozes charm and mischief. His animated smart-arse satire guarantees sixty minutes of smiles.

Get to Hammo’s Happy Hour at the Fingerknuckle Nightclub… I mean, Le Cascadeur. ;)
