GET IN THE SPIRIT WITH LISA MITCHELL
Three years since the release of her platinum debut album Wonder, Lisa Mitchell returns with the release of her new EP Spiritus, out today – Friday 4 May. The EP features the new single and title track, plus four original compositions penned by the singer-songwriter.
The new video for Spiritus was filmed in the sun drenched fields of Goulburn in country NSW. Lisa reunited with the award winning UK producer Vanessa Caswill (Revere, The Ryes) who directed videos for Neapolitan Dream, Clean White Love and Coin Laundry.
“The video concept for Spiritus came from Ness’s passionately creative mind,” says Lisa of the video. “This idea of ‘oneness’ became a really big theme in our conversations, something that Ness got from the song and definitely one of the themes within my reason for writing it. As a way of portraying that idea, Ness dreamt up this enormous medallic skirt that would join everyone together by the end of the video. That is very much what the song is about; being alone and not having constant contact with humanity and ‘real life’… And then perspective coming along and joyously reminding you that you ARE whole and together as one with everyone and everything else.”
Lisa will soon return to the stage for the Heavenly Sounds national tour in June. Set in the architectural splendour, rich acoustics and otherworldly ambience of the church setting, the Melbourne chanteuse will thrill with her delicate vocal style – revisiting captivating tunes from her AMP award-winning album Wonder, the Spiritus EP, as well as an exclusive sneak preview of songs from her forthcoming album.
With Lisa currently putting the finishing touches on her new record due later this year, she once again has the stages of the world in her sights.
