“Super awesome fun times at the Grace Emily this May.” – Gemini Downs
Adelaide’s home of live music, the Grace Emily Hotel, is bracing for an indie pop explosion as quirky seven piece Gemini Downs prepare to kick off their highly anticipated May residency. Each Friday in May the seven piece, armed with tap dancing percussion, a kicking horns section and a wonderfully bizarre collection of instruments will provide a series of fun, raucous and emotional performances.
The band have spent the best part of this year building a new EP with the former head of Sony Music Australia, Wayne Ringrow. “We’ve got so much cool stuff that we can’t wait to share with people”, said singer and guitarist Jessica Braithwaite. “It’s like when you have a secret you’ve been dying to tell someone. And now on Fridays in May we get to finally share it with everyone.”
It’s the first time the band will take to the stage this year, after being forced to call off their recent Fuse Festival performance with The Salvadors when singer and multi-instrumentalist Sean Brathwaite picked up a poorly timed injury from a fall at touch football. “We’ve been busting to get back on stage, and this is it now,” said Sean. “We cant wait to unleash all this cool new music we’ve been working on, and of course, whip out all the old favourites too.”
A host of unique, high class acts are waiting in the wings to make Fridays in May truly special.
